Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• Practice in Criminal Law for at least 10 years
• All India Bar Council exam cleared

Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• Practice in Criminal Law for at least 7 years
• All India Bar Council exam cleared
• At least 20 criminal trials in Sessions Court

Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• Practice in Criminal Law from 1 to 3 years
• All India Bar Council exam cleared
• Good communication skills; IT knowledge required

Essential qualifications

• Must be a citizen of India and a local resident of Virudhunagar District
• Law degree and valid Bar Council registration implicitly required for practice

Desirable

• Knowledge of Computer Systems/IT proficiency
